Our Services

Helping Hands is a community of staff and volunteers dedicated to helping men build meaningful futures. At the organization’s two residential facilities, men remake their lives on a foundation of dignity, self-determination, and hope.

  • MEN’S RECOVERY SHELTER - 50 LOWELL STREET

50 Lowell Street is Helping Hands’ first step in recovery. The program provides the support and structure needed for residents to take major steps toward autonomous, responsible living.

The dedicated and talented staff of Helping Hands provides personal support and behavioral health services. Helping Hands also connects residents with employment opportunities and third party social services.

Residents additionally receive shelter and food; peer support; and a safe and sober environment to enable meaningful change.

Residents are contributing community members who are committed to sobriety and self-sufficiency.

  • THE GENDRON HOUSE - 140/142 CENTRAL STREET

The Gendron House is the next stage in recovery—an “open-campus” sober living center, and the final step toward fully autonomous living.

Transitional living is available at this location where we have 28 units for men to live in their own room. This includes 12 additional units opened on the ground floor in January 2023. These are designed for those with limited mobility including wheelchair accessibility

Residents of the Gendron House receive ongoing support from the organization and from resident peers, but they have acquired the personal resources to become largely self-supporting and substantially independent from staff oversight.
